Parents who want to reduce their infants' exposure to phthalates, chemicals suspected of impairing male reproductive function, should not apply baby lotions or powders -- except for medical reasons. So concludes a study published in the journal Pediatrics
Is exposing our children to chemicals going to hurt us in the long run or is it just another study to get parents worked up?

I i would say what i think would be the outcome i would have to say that it probably would have some sort of effect on that and i think that it was really bad. But if i were being truthful i would have to say that i really don't know.
i think that they are both true but i think that it could both be true.....i don't think that we should expose young kids to chemicals it could possibly hurt them but they can try to make a study.....but some parents are just might not be good with the newness of kids.....like they might be new at parenting..... but they can try to make a study about it....bc it might....
I would have to say it is both. They should have a more complete study to make sure that it is true. Chemicals could possibly hurt them but they should study.
I think they are just trying to get people worked up because that doesn't sound reasonable.
I guess I don't know a lot about this study but it could have some harmful effects. However, baby powders and lotions have been used for many years and there hasn't been a big problem with it. There may be a few rare cases about it but I don't think that it is really that big of deal.
Yes it will. It could cause less parts of the body to function correctly. Basically getting bad chemicals in to the system can cause a lot of long term effects that are harmful to the human body.
I think that it could have some harmful effects. Lotions and poweders have been used for a long time. Getting chemicals into the system can cause long term effects.
First off, who knows anything about phthalates. NO one...not even scientists. Secondly, we have been using baby powder and lotion since the beginning of time. Why do you think dinasours had such smooth skin, because they had lotion and baby powder. But seriously, don't get all uppity because of some phthalates taht are in our baby powder. Its been around forever its not like people are hurt now.
I think that if we have been using these products forever they may be fine, buy if it is really bad we shouldnt use these products anymore. But i really dont think we need to worry alot just yet.
It think this study is very important for parents to look at. I think it reminds us we should not be using any drug or medical substance for other what it is intended to treat. It should not be abused or overused.
I don't think it is that big of a deal. It could have some harmful effects but we have been using these products for years. I dont think that they will all the sudden start being dangerous.
I don't think it is too big of a deal. We have been using these things for a long time and noone has done anything about it until now. It hasn't been a problem so I don't think we should get parents worked up about it.
It could eventually hurt us in the outcome. But it could go both ways. If they make the studies go further into depth, they could make better judgements. I dont think it is a judgement to get the parents worked up about. They shouldn't be exposing their children to bad chemicals but if it is approved medically.
I think this is just another study to get some people who believe in it really worked up. And everyone else that doesn't know or doesn't believe it won't care. I think there are a lot of chemicals in everything that we use these days, but that is just the way it is. So we are just going to have to live with it.
I think that all of this is ridiculous and everyone should stop worring about everything. THE END.
I believe it will have an effect. It will be like the flu and get in your body and show you done. It might even be worse and have reaction that your body might not get over with.
It's really not a big deal. Nowadays parents are looking for anything to freak out and complain about. THey should just calm down.
I think they are both true. They shouldn't expose young children to chemicals. That could hurt them really bad. This might help though
I think both..They should make sure that they know everything before they put things out there like this..because then people get worried and stop using the product which sometimes helps more then it hurts..
Since they are doing a test on it, it could have harmful affects. Even though lotions and powders have been used for a long time, there could still be long term effects that these could be causing. But, since people have been using these for a long time, I really don't think that there will be the harmful effects mentioned. They have had many tests that have been just a scare so this could be another one of those.
I don't think that it could be lethal because it has been around for years. No body has died from it so I don't think that we should worry about it. The people in the United States that study this stuff would tell us this if we died from it.
I think that this is just to get people worked up again. There are many chemicals in almost everything that we use. There are chemicals in what we eat and feed our children and no one seems to care too much about that. I think that the parents should just be cautious about what products are using and only use them when necessary.
I guess I don't know a lot about this study but it could have some harmful effects. However, baby powders and lotions have been used for many years and there hasn't been a big problem with it. There may be a few rare cases about it but I don't think that it is really that big of deal.
It is probably both. Studying more about the effects of what will happen though is what they should do. If the chemicals have a negative effect on them it could turn out badly.
i think it is just another study to get the parents worked up. We've used baby powders and lotions for years. it hasn't done anything to children.
